I heart 3-day weekends.

I feel so relaxed tonight after a great 3-day weekend. It was the weekend of "Guac & Margs" as we officially coined it. I can't help it, my new love for guacamole has taken over my life. We had guac almost everyday. But that's all over now, it's all gonna be about moderation between the guac & me from here on out. I also drank quite a bit more than usual. I guess there's just somethin' about eating mexican food with the margarita and feeling the approach of summer...

However, yesterday we tried to break away from the mexican food momentarily and we ventured out to Yen to have Japanese food on 2nd Street. I am truly sad to report that it was expensive - and it kinda sucked. We were very underwhelmed and say if you're gonna get sushi on 2nd, stick with Apengo.
Yen does get points for presentation though...




And they also get points for a sunny outside location that makes you feel like it's summertime...



We then decided to venture up to MOCA to check out the Poetics of the Handmade exhibit. It was very, very cool. I have such a new love & respect for the 3-D art realm since my class this past semester. I know it sounds cliche, but it really made me wake up and appreciate a whole new approach to art. I used to cruise right past the sculptures straight to the paintings and photography. This exhibit featured all Latin-American artists who made things by hand - and it was really fun to see. 100's of lipsticks carved into intricate chess pieces, giant atomic structures hanging from the ceiling that you could walk through made of glue and q-tips...it was fun...

Downtown LA is cool though - but there's always this really eerie feeling about it, because it's always seems deserted. "Nobody walks in LA..." isn't just a catchy song, I suppose.
